The truth about caffeine

A cup of tea contains less than half the level of caffeine of a typical cup of instant coffee. One cup of tea contains around 40 mg of caffeine whilst a cup of instant coffee contains up to 75mg. Brewed coffee contains significantly more with 100 to115mg of caffeine per 190ml cup1.

Up to 300mg/day (six cups of tea) is considered moderate consumption of caffeine, with no evidence of harmful effects in the vast majority of the adult population. Research has shown that the low levels of caffeine in tea do not cause dehydration and that the levels of caffeine found in tea actually provide us with a mental and physical boost.
